Happy Birthday Holly -Sept 25
This was a milestone birthday for my partner in crime and love of my life. We are both officially senior citizens!

Not to miss a chance to celebrate, I began to make plans! Holly received an amazing gift of tickets to hear a favorite band that was performing on Saltspring Island on her birthday. Included, was two nights on the dock at Ganges Harbour as we planned to take the boat instead of staying in a local hotel! Thanks Mollie! Holly was spoiled by many including her mother-in-law (Hi Mom!) and Sheila who joined us for a birthday dinner and key lime pie two nights before! Early in the morning, I slipped down to the boat to do a little decorating!
The rain and potential wind did not dampen our spirits and Baywolf carried us safely to our slip in time for our dinner reservations at Auntie Pesto’s. It was a cold and wet transit but the wind didn't amount to anything. Amazing food and service!
The show was terrific! Having seen "The Unfaithful Servants" perform on Hornby Island and again on Denman Island, we knew we would enjoy another evening of high energy folk, bluegrass and Americana fusion. These are top shelf artists with talent and practiced skills that leave us amazed every time!
Saturday was dry and a bit warmer and we enjoyed walking around the busy Saltspring market and the local art galleries. Pizza, gyoza’s and a beer at the Oystercatcher restaurant provided the perfect lunch. Back on the boat, Holly put together a super tasty dinner of chicken curry and rice! We were surrounded by huge boats including the 115’ Hotei, a 70’ Ocean Alexander, a Fleming 65, a beautiful sailboat named Latifa and the Weaton family boat named "After Eight" (Don Weaton and his wife had 8 children before they bought the boat!).
As usual, our evenings were enjoyed playing crib! We ran the heater most of the time as the temps were a chilly 8 degrees at night.
Sunday came with full sun and very little wind. After a bacon and egg breakfast on the boat, we slipped away to continue our counter clockwise circumnavigation of Saltspring Island. We decided to stop at Wallace Island for lunch and a short hike. There was room on the dock for Baywolf and we enjoyed a sunny break before heading home.
This was a great early fall boating trip. We have two more excursions planned for Baywolf before the end of the year and we will cross our fingers for weather as good as we had for this short trip!
