Canada Day in Maple Bay

Mollie, Holly and I worked for the Maple Bay Community Association again this year as food servers and general helpers. More accurately, we worked for Sheila who has been a primary organizer of the event for a very long time. Nana (my Mom) helped by preparing gift bags and babysitting Finnigan who is staying with Mollie and us for a month!

The weather was perfect if not a bit too hot! Our primary BBQ master actually passed out from the heat which caused a bit of alarm. He is OK but a bit shaken. The parade was a little bigger than previous ones and the helicopter fly past by one of Maple Bay's generous neighbors is always a star feature of the event. A 40 piece adult band provided background music and performed the national anthem after the boring speaches by local government types were over. We were very fortunate to have an RCMP officer in full serge lead the parade.

Recent events have caused a huge surge in national pride and I heard that Canadian flag sales are up by 75% this year. Flags are evident everywhere you look. Thanks Donald!

About our Blog

Our blog is intended to keep our family and friends informed and entertained. We are constantly amazed with the beautiful places we visit with our favourite modes of travel and we want to share them with you.  Our travels are made in a 26' Tollycraft boat named Baywolf, a 1975 VW bus named Vincent, a Triumph Speedmaster named Speedy, our feet and our 16' Pelican canoe (it weighs 85lbs so it has different names depending on if we are paddling or portaging!).  We will document some of the ongoing upgrades and repairs and we will share some of our projects done through our little company, H&R Home and Yard.
